Since 2016 I have worked with a small team to organize the largest kendama competition outside of Japan. The North American Kendama Open (previously Minnesota Kendama Open) sees hundreds of players from around the world travel to Minneapolis for a 3 day weekend full of kendama competition and activities. My first MKO welcomed 300+ competitors from 28 states and 6 countries and attendance has grown each year.Due to the pandemic we focused on Online competition in 2020 & 2021 and saw our largest growth of international players participating and a larger focus on watching competition live on Twitch from our community.
