As a Maintenance Group Supervisor at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, I oversee the nighttime maintenance operations of the three Staten Island crossings: Outerbridge, Goethals, and Bayonne Bridge. In this role, I am entrusted with ensuring the smooth functioning of these vital transportation links through routine maintenance activities and coordinated responses to various maintenance needs.Key Responsibilities:1) Nighttime Maintenance: Supervising and coordinating the maintenance operations during nighttime hours, ensuring the integrity and functionality of the Staten Island crossings.2) Lane Closure Coordination: Facilitating periodic lane closures for corrective maintenance work, contractor scheduled work, and special events organized by the Port Authority Police.3) Snow Emergency Management: Serving as the primary point of contact and coordinator during snow emergencies, orchestrating efforts among field operators, Port Authority Operations, Port Authority Police, and Port Authority Central Automotive to maintain operational roadways for safe travel.Before assuming the role of Maintenance Group Supervisor, I served as a Maintenance Services Supervisor at Newark Liberty International Airport. In this capacity, I oversaw daily preventative maintenance operations to uphold airport safety and regulatory standards.Direct Responsibilities:Supervision of General Maintenance Staff: 10 employeesOversight of Cleaning Contractor Staff: 10 employeesManagement of Loading Bridge/Belt Staff: 15 employeesCoordination with Refuse Removal ContractorAdditionally, the Maintenance Services Supervisor holds sole responsibility for overseeing maintenance during off-tour hours and responding to emergencies involving aircraft, motor vehicles, ground vehicles, and other incidents on the airport premises.During winter months, I assisted in the coordination and supervision of the airport's snow removal program. This involves overseeing maintenance staff as they clear snow from taxiways, runways, and landside areas to ensure the safe arrival and departure of aircraft.
