Plan and direct Passport’s product development policies, objectives, and initiatives. Responsible for expanding Passport’s product portfolio including producing product lines in Passport’s existing products and new product categories in the coming years. Oversee research and development for new products and product enhancements. Ensure that product development activities align with the goals of the organization. Make recommendations on the potential and practicality of products in development. Working with marketing, engineering and R&D teams to derive key insights and marketing specifications from our consumers, and translate those along with Passport’s development team into product innovations.

Director of research and development managing and directing Passport’s government, product, andinternal research & development programs, interfacing with customers to understand existing and new requirements, and developing new technologies to support product growth (both government sponsored and internal). Leadership role on the research and development team for a shipping cargo container scanning system consisting of an electron beam accelerator, many different types of radiation detectors, a cargo transport system, and a control system. Principal investigator for the Nuclear and Radiological Imaging Platform Advanced Technology Demonstration (NRIP ATD) overseen by the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) involving deployment of a full-scale shipping container scanning system to a sea port for a pilot program. Manager of a multidisciplinary team of 15 members, developing the capability to detect contraband in shipping containers, consisting of scientists, algorithm development engineers, embedded software engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and technicians. Responsible for discovery and exploitation of new radiation signatures for the non-intrusive inspection of fully loaded shipping containers. Development process required close work between scientists, computer scientists, and engineers. Critical member of the team taking the system through the proof of concept stage, through government testing, and onto full productization.

Technical lead of product development for Passport System's scanner products. Principal investigator for the Nuclear and Radiological Imaging Platform Advanced Technology Demonstration (NRIP ATD) overseen by the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) involving deployment of a full-scale shipping container scanning system to a sea port for a pilot program. Responsible for identification and implementation of technical solutions to ensure requirement fulfillment for customers and government research programs.

Technical leader of the research and development team for Passport's large cargo scanning system. Led the development of several major subsystems of the scanner, including the nuclear resonance subsystem. Managed the effort to extend the scanner’s detection abilities from nuclear security to general contraband detection.

Worked primarily in scintillation detector development for gamma ray, neutron, and charged particle spectroscopy.Part of the research team to first characterize the breakthrough scintillation material SrI2:Eu.

Performed nuclear spectroscopy in research efforts related to nuclear structure and nuclear instrumentation. Nuclear structure experiments were performed at Argonne National Laboratory with the ATLAS accelerator facility and Gammasphere detector array. Instrumentation research focused on radiation imaging applications.

Research focused on performance enhancement for an on-line PGNAA chemical assaying device with primary applications to the cement and coal industries.
