As Volunteer Leader, I coordinate volunteer and staff fieldwork to support the rehabilitation of Black Point Historic Gardens at Fort Mason in San Francisco. Here are some of the core duties of my position:-Conduct site reconnaissance and plan management activities on multiple time scalesaccording to phenology, weather and other variables. -Organize and lead volunteer workdays that engage individuals of diverse backgrounds. -Document work performed by writing monthly reports, photo-monitoring, andmapping. -Take initiative on large-scale invasive species removal; prioritize target infestations and directcontractors and staff in eradication efforts. -Design outreach newsletter and distribute to community organizations,businesses, and the public.

Implement habitat restoration projects throughout the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, from Muir Woods to Mori Point. These projects help to maintain the natural beauty of the parks by preserving the native character of plant communities, as well as conserving threatened and endangered flora and fauna.

Carrizo Plain National Monument

Conduct a variety of surveys in the Carrizo Plain National Monument (CPNM) including small mammal trapping and mark-recapture, reptile line-transect, invertebrate pitfall trapping, predator spotlighting, and vegetation composition and biomass. This research informs the Carrizo Plain Ecosystem Project, a long-term study of climate change and food web interactions on the Plain.

Help to restore seasonal and tidal wetland habitat through native revegetation, biological monitoring, implementation of experimental design, and soil/water quality sampling.

Assist in the eradication of invasive Spartina (cordgrass) species from the San Francisco Bay estuary by monitoring and mapping treatment activities at field sites.

Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge

Botanical monitoring, mapping & surveying of endangered flora, and removal of invasive species in coastal dune habitat.

Summer season field tasks in the service of coastal prairie/scrub restoration, including: propagule collection, manual and mechanical weed removal, seed cleaning, nursery transplanting, biological monitoring, fence building, and data entry.
