Returned to hands-on technical product management, embracing the opportunity to channel my passion for requirements analysis and systems engineering. I'm focused on some of the most challenging aspects of scaling up our enterprise platform as we evolve the product to become cloud-native and leverage elements of the cloud stack from providers such as AWS and HashiCorp. Initial focus has been on configuration management and deployment orchestration, enabling the simplification and standardization of upgrades and configuration changes, leading to significant improvements in the automation and efficiency of the upgrade process.

I was responsible for the delivery of enterprise product for sporting, theatre and arena events. Our clients include NFL, NBA, MLS and English Premier League Teams.▪ Introduced innovative processes to transform product engineering from a reactive client-driven activity to a proactive product-centric enterprise.▪ Collaborated with C-suite executives to translate organizational strategy into Product vision. Defined and measured team OKRs and performance metrics.▪ Created processes for all phases of the product engineering lifecycle: definition of strategies, specification of features, design, development, verification, validation and support. Fostered culture of collaboration and communication across work groups.▪ Prioritized initiatives to migrate legacy application and integration architectures to contemporary technology platforms and to facilitate cloud hosting and SaaS delivery models.▪ Introduced Product Management to SeatGeek Enterprise. Created, hired, trained and scaled global enterprise product management team. Provided mentorship to enable execution in a cross-functional environment, ranging from sales to client services to engineering and QA.▪ Developed strategy and operating model to integrate external products /services and create a Product Ecosystem.▪ Introduced inventive cost-effective cross life-cycle product and engineering validation processes that enable client-facing teams to augment existing QA and testing procedures.

I founded this company to provide management and engineering consulting services — including IT strategy, SDLC, agile methodologies, process improvement, requirements engineering, application and integration architecture. We consulted to start-ups and clients in the finance, healthcare and eCommerce / marketplace sectors.▪ Referred by venture capitalists to portfolio companies to address specific product, engineering and management issues that had been identified.▪ Designed integrations to leading EHR applications (including Epic and AllScripts) to comply with “meaningful use” directives.▪ Served as interim CTO and interim COO for an e-commerce auction marketplace that supported cataloging, inventory management, valuations, CRM, integrated logistics for international drop-shipping, credit-card and direct-debit payments, compliance and anti-fraud functionality ▪ Ensured client compliance with industry and regulatory standards including SOC, HIPAA and PCI-DSS by creating and implementing policies and assisting with audit preparation.▪ Drafted and negotiated SaaS, licensing and service level agreements.▪ Designed cybersecurity applications with specific focus on identity services, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, authorization, mitigation of social engineering attacks and transactional security.

In my role as Founder, CEO and Chairman, I oversaw all aspects of the company, bootstrapped it and grew it organically from a one-person consultancy into a company employing 40 engineers. Under my leadership, the company gained recognition as one of the most respected specialist providers of software services and products in South Africa. (In 2017 Synthesis Software Technologies was acquired by JSE-listed Capital Appreciation Ltd.)▪ Demonstrated strong fiscal and operational leadership in realizing average year-over-year EBITDA growth of 25% + for more than ten years. ▪ Employer of choice for elite software engineers, with a turnover rate of less than 10%.▪ Established a strong brand and sterling reputation for delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget.▪ Served marquee clients in the banking, financial services and utilities sectors — including all five of South Africa’s largest banks. ▪ Directed long-term strategic planning with full P&L responsibility, and managed business operations including finance, tax, corporate transactions, HR and legal (including intellectual property and SLAs).▪ Defined and measured team KPIs.▪ Defined requirements and designed bespoke software applications including solutions for anti-money laundering, VAT reclaim, wealth management, hosted payments processing, core banking, lending, trade finance, credit card administration, forex trading, securities trading, governance, compliance and risk.▪ Served as advisor to client C-Suite executives regarding IT structure, sourcing and in build vs buy decisions. Implemented governance processes for assessing IT spend and risk to improve project outcomes.

▪ Developed original requirements specifications for the initial version of CURA. ▪ Served on the board until successful exit when the company was acquired by NSE-listed SoftPro Systems.
