Engineer Planner assigned to train, advise, and assist the engineer and training sections in an Afghan Army Headquarters. Responsible for the prioritization and synchronization of advising efforts covering military engineering, facilities engineering and management, and institutional and collective training. Serves as a Quality Assarance Representative and Contracting Officer Respresentative for US Government and United States Corps of Engineer contracts within the area of operations.SurveyingI instructed Afghan National Army (ANA) engineers in surveying, construction documents, and AutoCAD plans production. I developed a surveying training program for six ANA engineers that included classroom and practical lessons. I led the final program project which requirement ANA engineers to survey washed out road sections in order to design a new drainage system, with culverts and bridges to improve transportation to critical military infrastructure. I verified ANA surveying plans and calculations for the project prior to construction.Power GenerationI conducted a power demand versus capacity study of the electrical requirements for the expansion of a 3,000 Soldier ANA base. Analysis included capacity of current generator power plant capacity along with historical seasonal data with peak usage in the summer hot months. Analysis was used to determine the type and amount of air conditioning units needed to maximize the expansion of the base for for future training needs training.I advise afghan engineers on how to maintain and operate water systems, waste water plants, large scale generator plants, critical infrastructure such as hospitals, food refrigeration systems, and HVAC systems.I advise senior Afghan and US personnel and engineer topics related to operation and maintenance of facilities concerning power generation, fuel consumption, HVAC demands, living space, and life support systems.

I re-designed four light timber structures from standard drawings to produce a more economical design and facilitate a reduced construction timeline. I designed a concrete mat foundation, truss covered awning, and supporting concrete mix design to place concrete slab in freezing temperatures. Design timber truss manufacturing plant in an austere environment to support the 150 trusses needed for the project.

Unit projects included land clearing, road construction, drainage, office renovations, and small to medium commercial sized buildings.Civil Engineer (Transportation)I worked as a project engineer for the construction of road section connecting two training areas on a military installation. The road project consisted of approximately a 1.5 mile roadway being built through a swap area. I had to work with the military installation, Corps of Engineers Office, and various environmental agencies to coordinate project and required permits. I assisted with the run-off calculations and drainage plan along with assisting the surveying crew throughout the project. I worked the cut/fill requirements with the mass diagram to build overall construction schedule and design drawings for the roadway and surface. I completed calculations for multiple culvert designs to support the project.Quality Control and Assurance Representative (Stewart)I worked as a Quality Control and Assurance Representative at the Fort Stewart US Army Corps of Engineer Resident office. I inspected consolidated maintenance facilities, access control points, and headquarter building projects to assess projects requirements against punch-list in order to conduct final project close-out of military construction projects.
