The LR manager role balances the relationships between unionized contractors, non-union contractors, unions, internal, and external stakeholders to ensure Irving Oil can execute our operations safely, efficiently, collaboratively, and as risk adverse as possible while navigating how current nationwide resource challenges impact securing the resources required. Key Responsibilities: Provide labour relations oversight and guidance to internal stakeholders and contractor partners. Created and delivered comprehensive internal labour market intelligence capacity to identify competing projects, collective agreement comparisons, cost impacts and incentives to inform strategic decision-making recommendations to senior leadership. Represent Irving Oil on the BuildForce Canada board of directors. Develop, deliver, and implement the trade incentivization program to attract resources based on labour market conditions. Engage the supply management department regarding a precise contracting strategy to navigate a balance between union and non-union contractors to secure adequate resources while maintaining a harmonious balance on-site. Instructed numerous training classes for internal / external stakeholders and contractors on a variety of labour relations topics including common employer, dispute resolution, and collective bargaining. Spearheaded a revamped proactive labour relations approach that includes a 5-year LR roadmap contemplating key collective agreement dates, cost escalations, labour market reporting, and implementation of a site project labour agreement for energy transition projects. Created and lead the regional owners committee meetings between Irving Oil, JDI, and NB Power to discuss upcoming project schedules and resource demand to best mitigate trade shortages locally.
