About Cole Skye Fortuin
I am goal driven and an eager learner, looking forward to growing, and gaining new skills, experiences in my career. I find enjoyment working within a team. In saying this I'm a team player being eager to always lend a helping hand where possible, a main factor of this is coming from a peer to peer learning environment. I also enjoy exploring new avenues to problem solving, while understanding that traditional problem solving skills are a fail safe.I constantly remind myself that "Its okay to not know everything", so I'm not shy to ask for help where needed.

Junior Technical Consultant
Junior Software Developer
- At Ador I have spent time interacting with API’s. Most of this time was spent on retrieving and sending data. - My very first task that was given to me was to Dockerize all of the existing projects in the company, to improve live testing and traffic through the projects. - Each existing project had its own Dockerfile which was run through a Docker compose file, through the compose file the order of execution was established as some projects depended on each other to run.- Upon finishing this I was then given the task to develop a shell script that would run on a timer to back up any data that was stored locally and send it to the cloud using Azure. - Once I moved on from shell scripts and Docker I spent time integrating an external Financial Api (Xero) to send data to our internal Api’s in JSON format upon creation of invoices using a practice called webhooks. - This is where I learnt how to reengineer existing logic and add new functionality due to a new feature being introduced to the project.- Later on I would spend time creating a User Interface (UI) to automate this setup allowing the customers to integrate their own accounts with our Api’s, without having to contact us directly and wait for feedback. - Creating the UI I was required to interact with a database to store the customer data, allowing the company to have records of existing customers and not creating duplicate customer entries. - I have spent minimal time on front end development however I have made use of JavaScript, Html and DevExtreme to create a form for the client to enter their details.
Software Engineer Intern
During my second internship at Old Mutual. My focus during this internship is up-skilling while learning new skills, ‘aws’ being one of them. Aside from this, I am also within a team working on a project where we are in the process of developing individual Online Profile’s which will display all there is to know about the person from a software development perspective, e.g. accomplishments, project history, etc.Courses I have covered during my internship on udemy are:- Aws Cloud Practitioner.- DevOps : > Basic concepts of Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery and Continuous Deployment (CD), and DevOps. > Understand the pain points in the traditional Software Development Life Cycle which paved the way for CI / CD/ DevOps. > How business revenue and time-to-market are greatly improved by bringing in CI/CD/Devops.- Design Thinking for Beginners: Develop Innovative Ideas.- Agile Fundamentals.- Workplace Communication.
Student At Wethinkcode
While at WeThinkCode I developed my computer skills and communication skills, amongst adapting to working with various teams and people. Here I was introduced to programming languages such as Python, Java, Dart, Flutter, SQLite, Docker, HTML and CSS. Discipline around having daily stand ups and common practices were upheld. With WeThinkCode being a peer to peer environment that simulates a working environment I was able to get a concept of what role awaited me.During my time here I was able to hone my demonstration and presentation skills through preparation, dry runs and live demonstrations.
Software Engineer Intern
During my first internship at Old Mutual I was exposed to the work environment of a Software Developer as well as the external roles that impact the work of a Software Developer. I was introduced to a practice called agile that is used within the developer teams. Most of my time at Old Mutual was spent shadowing backend work where they used the DotNet framework. While this was my main focus I was briefly exposed to front-end work as well. I also attended daily stand-ups as well as all planning and restrospective meetings.
