As Site Supervisor, I spend much of my time helping develop and supervise after school programs at a middle school. These activities focus on helping students develop academically, in athletics, and socially. I assist the Site Director in carrying out supervisory responsibilities to effectively managing staff in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. I assist with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; Any issues the after school program that occurs, I assist in addressing complaints and resolving issues.In cooperation with other staff members and community partners, I plan several clubs and special events that focus on implementation of youth, teen and family programs and activities that provide a safe and enjoyable program that meets the desired program goals.I communicate and maintain contact with parents/guardians to discuss achievements and concerns with their child.I preform administrative functions such as compiling attendance, injury, and incident reports.I communicate with school faculty and staff regularly to discuss facility and/or student concerns.

As an intern and program planner I designed flyers, program forms, guardian forms, as well as mission and vision statements. I also helped direct and lead a youth summer camp.I chose this internship because I wanted to experience a start up bussiness. It was a rare opportunity that I felt would better me as recreation proffesional. The Stanton Viking Center opened a few days after I started my internship. I was able to see how a director works with contractors and architechts. I gained experience in working other facilities and how bussiness parnetership may work as the center worked with various groups such as the YMCA, city pools, and National parks.I helped sell recreation center memberships which helped the Stanton Viking Center exceed their summer membership estimations. I was able to see how important it is for a recreation proffesional to be social and have their face in the community to gain support for the recreation center. By the end of my internship my my supervisor and director of the center was wanting to hire me full time as a programming director but the city, who funds the city, does not have the funds at this time to do so.

Northwest Missouri State University Maryville, Missouri

As a student recreation supervisor, my duties were to officiate, supervise, and score keep intercollegiate events held at the Northwest Missouri State recreation center. I also helped sell athletic equipment, as well as enforce recreation center rules and policies.

Mound City, Missouri

At Squaw Creek National Refuge, I helped with outdoor school education programming which included leading schools on trail hikes serving as their guide, Educating youth about plants and animals in Missouri, as leading a summer youth outdoor education camp. The camp was the annual Squaw Creek Junior naturalists, held every summer in Mound City, Missouri. My duties were to plan games, lesson plans and activities, create power points, each week with a specific subject pertaining to wildlife in Missouri. Week 1 we had 6 participants, by week 10 the camp had been so well spoken of that we had over 30 participants annually.

As the Assistant Lifeguard Manager, my duties were to supervise staff and costumers, help manage a snack bar, clean the pool, record and test pool chemicals, and teach swimming lessons.
