I also helped direct and lead a youth summer camp.I chose this internship because I wanted to experience a start up bussiness. It was a rare opportunity that I felt would better me as recreation proffesional. The Stanton Viking Center opened a few days after I started my internship. I was able to see how a director works with contractors and architechts. I gained experience in working other facilities and how bussiness parnetership may work as the center worked with various groups such as the YMCA, city pools, and National parks.I helped sell recreation center memberships which helped the Stanton Viking Center exceed their summer membership estimations. I was able to see how important it is for a recreation proffesional to be social and have their face in the community to gain support for the recreation center. By the end of my internship my my supervisor and director of the center was wanting to hire me full time as a programming director but the city, who funds the city, does not have the funds at this time to do so.
