I provide technical leadership for the Arts and Humanities Research Computing engineering team, where I mentor junior engineers on best practices in software development within a digital humanities context. I manage multiple projects on an end-to-end basis (requirements and planning; data modeling; full stack application development; data analysis and visualization; testing and CI/CD), building custom solutions to solve complex research questions posed by Harvard faculty. I participate in long-term strategic planning for the support of digital humanities at Harvard, and frequently collaborate with colleagues from the Harvard Library, other parts of HUIT, and across the university to advance digital scholarship. I also regularly engage with the broader digital humanities community through ADHO and research software engineering conferences and by serving on the steering committee for the DHTech ADHO Special Interest Group.

I implement digital humanities projects that require custom web applications, text analysis, database modeling, or data visualization for faculty collaborators in the Arts and Humanities Division. When not developing project features, I often identify vendors; translate faculty ideas into technical requirements; clean and restructure data; and test, deploy, and maintain projects.I also maintain the Arts and Humanities Research Computing AWS cloud computing infrastructure (primarily ECS Fargate) and Github organization, and work with FAS research computing to provide customized high performance computing capacity for humanities projects. As co-chair of the Digital Scholarship Support Group, I encourage university-wide collaboration on Digital Humanities and Digital Scholarship projects. As DSSG co-chair, I launched a Digital Scholarship Graduate Certificate program, ran dozens of open technical workshops, and organized a successful ongoing Digital Futures speaker series.

I supported Faculty of Arts and Sciences digital projects at all stages as a consultant, project manager, and software developer. I connected faculty to Harvard resources and other colleagues, advised library and HUIT units on digital humanities and data visualization technologies, and led workshops on digital research methods, tools, and programming.

I worked with the OSU Libraries and Press Digital Projects Initiative to create innovative, experimental, and interdisciplinary digital projects. Some examples include an interactive Atlas of the Pacific Northwest; a collaboration with the School of Writing, Literature, and Film to improve institutional memory by housing lesson plans and metadata; and the consolidation of numerous previously "siloed" digital projects into a new hosting solution for DPI.

I worked with the Division of Outreach and Engagement on tasks including web development, program development and documentation, event management, and public relations.I developed "Listen Up!: Object Stories," a digital space for community participation which invites OSU students and Oregon citizens to share and digitally represent personal objects and then inspire meaning through narratives and story-telling. I presented this project at Digital Humanities Summer Institute 2017, and Charles Robinson and Liddy Detar led an object stories workshop using Listen Up! at the annual Engagement Scholarship Consortium Conference in September 2017.As Website and Social Media Coordinator for The CO• 2017 (Corvallis Maker Fair), I helped draw over 1,500 attendees and 50 exhibitors to share displays of making ranging from origami to robotics to carpentry to photogrammetry to 3D printing. I also helped plan the first annual OSU Outdoor Summit (now moved to 2017-2018).

I was the GTA for "ENG 480/580: Introduction to Digital Humanities: The Virtual Collection." I helped pick course readings, lead discussions and software workshops, help office hours, and provided technical support for student projects.

I worked with the Gray Family Chair for Innovative Libraries Services on digital publishing initiatives and projects, such as new user interfaces and data visualizations for SCARC (OSU Special Collections & Archives Research Center) collections and finding aids, and mapping digital humanities users through their interactions with UVic's DHSI (Digital Humanities Summer Institute).

The Provost’s Distinguished Graduate Fellowship Program provides prestigious university fellowships. Award recipients are selected from a pool of applicants from all university PhD programs and MA/MS programs for which no PhD program exists.

I worked on experimental projects, such as high performance and cluster computing. The RaD Lab is conceived of as a "makerspace" where students can bring computing related ideas and build and test them. Other projects include a lightboard which allows for better teacher-student interaction during recorded lectures, virtual human models for medical studies, an immersive liquid Galaxy display for Google Earth, 3D printing, and interactive maps of Creighton's campus. The RaD Lab also supports student run tech startups.

I worked with Dr. Simon Appleford as a research assistant in digital humanities, focusing on R and migrating data from FileMaker to MySQL.As a member of the British Laboring Class Poets Online project, I worked with Dr. Bridget Keegan to digitize biographic and bibliographic records of 17th-19th century British laboring class poets. I have performed various tasks for this project, including building a SQL database to house records and managing an Omeka website for the project. I also worked on data entry, wrote blog posts about the project, and researched specific poets. As part of this work, I attended Digital Humanities 2013 in Lincoln, the main annual conference of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations.An offshoot of the LC project is my independent research on the Scottish poet Robert Tannahill, a contemporary of Burns. I created a new digital edition of his 1807 edition of poems and songs, entitled "Transforming Robert Tannahill."​ I was awarded a summer undergraduate research grant (2014) to continue my work. The edition features all known Tannahill works and correspondence, including new transcriptions of any correspondence available in holograph. I presented "Transforming Robert Tannahill"​ at Creighton's St. Alberts'​ Research Day and Creighton's Honors Day. I also presented my Tannahill research at the July 2015 British Association for Romantic Studies Conference at the University of Cardiff, Wales as a member of the “Exploring and Expanding the Archive of Laboring-Class Print Culture” panel.

As an intern, I worked through different rotations within ConAgra's IT program helping to implement technology usage within a corporate environment.Rotation 1: Desktop Support (Nov. 2012 - May 2013). I wiped, reimaged, repaired, and replaced company computers, monitors, and projectors. I also serviced Cisco phones, worked with Active Directory and SCCM, and handled Help Desk requests for software or hardware installation.Rotation 2: Web Development (May 2013 - Aug. 2013, Jan. 2014 - late March 2014). I built, tested and debugged company web applications using tools such as Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, LoadRunner, and Business Objects 4. Helped write code to pull user data for a printer transition; ConAgra moved from HP and Toshiba printers to Ricoh, and the initiative is expected to save over $2.5 million annually.Rotation 3: Project Management Office [PMO] (March 2014 - May 2014) Learned Agile Kanban and Agile Scrum project methodologies; ran and independently developed consumption reports to track employee time against project budgets. Moved projects through their lifecycles using SAP cProjects, focusing on complete closure for audit purposes. Rewrote closure OPL (One Point Lesson) documents for clarity and ease of use. Provided feedback for the Office 365 migration team by creating a focus group of Creighton students as CU recently implemented O365.Mobile Phone Transition Help Desk: (February 2014-May 2014). Helped transition ConAgra's cell phone from company owned to employee owned devices with a stipend by taking calls from transitioning employees. This team handled over 1,500 calls and 1,700 emails and migrated over 3,500 phones, contributing to an estimated $2 million annual savings for the company.
