Research Assistant - Digital HumanitiesCreighton University - Department Of Information Technology Jun 2012 - May 2015Omaha, Nebraska, UsI worked with Dr. Simon Appleford as a research assistant in digital humanities, focusing on R and migrating data from FileMaker to MySQL.As a member of the British Laboring Class Poets Online project, I worked with Dr. Bridget Keegan to digitize biographic and bibliographic records of 17th-19th century British laboring class poets. I have performed various tasks for this project, including building a SQL database to house records and managing an Omeka website for the project. I also worked on data entry, wrote blog posts about the project, and researched specific poets. As part of this work, I attended Digital Humanities 2013 in Lincoln, the main annual conference of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations.An offshoot of the LC project is my independent research on the Scottish poet Robert Tannahill, a contemporary of Burns. I created a new digital edition of his 1807 edition of poems and songs, entitled "Transforming Robert Tannahill." I was awarded a summer undergraduate research grant (2014) to continue my work. The edition features all known Tannahill works and correspondence, including new transcriptions of any correspondence available in holograph. I presented "Transforming Robert Tannahill" at Creighton's St. Alberts' Research Day and Creighton's Honors Day. I also presented my Tannahill research at the July 2015 British Association for Romantic Studies Conference at the University of Cardiff, Wales as a member of the “Exploring and Expanding the Archive of Laboring-Class Print Culture” panel. -
