Acute care and ICU rehabilitation, involving pre- and post-operatively correcting orthopedic conditions or traumas, primarily related to the spine across multiple levels as well as the hip. I worked preoperatively with several halo patients in preparation for surgical correction of scoliosis; this involved applying and removing weighted traction across the spinal column during functional task performance. Postoperative rehabilitation status post spinal surgery and/or total hip arthroplasty involved educating each patient about their precautions, emphasizing the importance of their adherence; doing so involved teaching and practicing appropriate bed mobility and bedside transfers, as well as basic ADL functioning in adherence to all precautionary measures effective immediately following surgery. Since these precautions temporarily restrict range of motion in certain directions to avoid secondary complications, successfully performing basic self-care tasks like lower body dressing, bathing, grooming, and toileting demands modification. Thus, assistive devices were introduced and practiced prior to discharge. Evaluating the patients was conducted daily to establish discharge needs and recommendations in terms of whether care should be terminated or continued at home or inpatient subacute rehabilitation. Clinical reasoning here is based on the nature of environmental demands at home, availability of social support, and the level of assistance needed. This information is obtained directly from the patient.

Worked with tenants with a mental health diagnosis in an assisted living facility to develop the necessary skills to function independently and within the community. Intervention was executed within the community and in their living environment in group settings or individually with at least three tenants. Other responsibilities included assessing needs, conducting assessments to track progress, documenting progress, and the completion of a case study.

-To complete a case study and to build an occupational profile for a client with a mental health diagnosis and with co-occuring physical impairments involving balance and motor skills. The occupational profile captures the client's goals, interests, history, routines, roles, habits, and rituals, and identifies contextual, environmental, and personal factors that either limit or support occupational engagement. -Running assessments with the client to create and implement a client-centered intervention plan in order to facilitate the client's individual goals and occupational reengagement. Progress notes will be completed weekly.-To develop and lead a task-oriented protocol, consisting of five group treatment sessions, that corresponds with an overarching frame of reference and addresses issues of cognition, memory, sequencing, balance, and fine and gross motor skills.
