Design and manufacture of an instrumentation and electricity generation system for an experimental Stirling engine.

The Stirling Engine Lab, a research lab associated with tech start-up Ekstera, is an ongoing program designed to optimize the efficiency and low-temperature operation of an external heat or Stirling engine. To support this research I designed a full instrumentation system using a combination of LabVIEW, Python, and embedded C programming to capture engine operating characteristics. This instrumentation also required the design of a full PID heat and motor control system for optimal data collection. Additionally, I explored fluid simulation of the engine to categorize heat transfer inside of the cylinder using ANSYS Fluent.

Using Solidworks I designed and validated the pedal assembly to comply with competition regulations and team goals. Designed custom seat to lock into the chassis that would fit a wide range of drivers using Solidworks surface modelling.
