Colleagues describe him as "I have known Cole for most of his life as we both hail from the same small town in southeast Saskatchewan. I have watched him grow up, mostly from afar, and have always been impressed with his accomplishments. I had the opportunity to work more closely with Cole starting a year ago as a result of our Credit Union’s involvement with the Edwards JDC West team. Although I already knew Cole as a confident and charismatic communicator, with a strong sense of responsibility and high values, all important traits of a strong leader, I was further impressed with his professionalism, drive and strategic thinking. Most recently, Cole accepted an offer to work with Conexus as a summer student working as a Financial Services Representative/ Marketing Assistant. We were able to provide him a unique work experience on the front-line serving members, combined with short-term secondments and work assignments with the Marketing & Communications department. Cole was very well received by members and fellow employees throughout Conexus, and he successfully contributed to the development, planning and execution of several strategy, community investment and communications initiatives within the Marketing & Communications department. Most importantly, as a further development opportunity, I challenged him throughout the summer to provide feedback on his observations on how Conexus could improve the member experience and we recently met for that debrief. His feedback was very focused and thorough, an important skill for a strong leader. He accomplished all of this while juggling his duties throughout the summer as co-chair of what should prove to be a very successful National Mining Competition, supporting family and keeping active.
