In my current role as a Patient Care Assistant at Canada West Veterinary Specialists, I am responsible for assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in effectively and efficiently caring for, handling, and treating patients in the ERCC, Wards, and ICU departments. I am also specially trained in the Surgery department, where I aid in setting up and operating within the surgical operation rooms. My tasks include sterilizing instruments, prepping the patient for their operation, and scrubbing in. I effectively set up and assist in sedated procedures, including sedated radiographs, examinations, and procedures such as laceration repairs to ensure the veterinarian has all necessary equipment and the space remains sterile for patients. I am primarily assigned to the Emergency and Critical Care Department, but I enjoy practicing my skills in other departments when possible.

I worked for one season as a Rental Staff member for Jericho Beach Kayak Centre, where I was responsible for delivering instructional safety talks to kayak rental customers to ensure safety for all involved.
