About Colette Poncet
Storytelling and helping people have always been my two greatest passions. When arriving at New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, with the aspirations of studying film and mental health, I strived to find the best way to combine those two things. In doing so I not only built a concentration around the interaction between child development and film but also found ways to put that knowledge into practice.In the past 4 years, I've produced five short films which helped me gain skills of leadership, collaboration, and story development. Amongst all of my work, I've applied the knowledge I acquired in both my screenwriting and psychology courses to represent characters and their flaws in their most honest forms. In addition to producing, I've also been an active member of NYU's community by leading the Gallatin Film Alliance as President for two years where I curated events, researched guest speakers, consulted on film production, and fostered a filmmaking community within Gallatin.During my time at NYU, I've gained extensive industry experience through development internships at both Stephanie Germain Productions and Legendary Entertainment. These opportunities not only gave me opportunities to observe and aid in the development and production of industry-level productions but also helped me gain essential skills for development like script coverage and pitching. These internships shaped the trajectory of my career aspirations by introducing me to the development process, the field of work I plan to go into as I begin my career. Currently, I am seeking my first industry position so I can kickstart my journey to becoming a development or programming executive.
