Inspired by my fascination with nature, I juxtaposed landscapes from a New York and in a variety of environments in my work; offering viewers a glimpse into my dreams and imagination. This work expresses the beauty and nobility I see within all life no matter what level it may occur. This painting captures a delicacy and at the same time a boldness in form. My strong colors challenge the viewer, while my soft colors put the viewer at peace. Painting for me, always begins with intense observation of the subject matter and then I create my own interpretation. In my paintings I mix the organic forms of the cherry blossoms in contrast to the modern geometric structures of the surrounding buildings. The cherry blossoms in the painting, which are revered by both cultures, are the focal point of the painting. The forms of the buildings are echoed by the rectangular shape of Central Park throughout the painting. There is a faint luminosity of green found throughout the entire painting that enables the viewer to experience a bright and vibrant day at Central Park.. For me my love of cherry blossoms began when I was a child. I was always mesmerized by the beauty of the cherry blossoms in my grandfather’s backyard. Each flower caught my attention and each falling petal in the wind fired my imagination. The blossoms created a fantasy world of magic for me. When painting the blossoms as an adult I try to find that magical feeling I experienced so long ago and capture it on the canvas. My work is unique but at the same time centers on both New York and and the world as both move into a future of beauty and peace.
