In today's digital landscape, cybersecurity has become a critical concern for businesses of all sizes. While large corporations have dedicated resources to address cybersecurity challenges, small businesses often face unique obstacles in meeting the latest requirements.With over 18 years of experience in the IT sector, particularly within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) supply chain, I have developed extensive expertise in technical design, implementation, and prioritisation of security. Over the past 10 years, my role has increasingly focused on IT compliance and governance. I hold a valid CISSP certification and have implemented international standards such as ISO 27001:2022, as well as standards like Def Stan 05-138 to meet the Cyber Risk Profile levels required by the Defence Cyber Protection Partnership (DCPP), including certifications such as Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.I understand that achieving cybersecurity compliance can be overwhelming and costly for small businesses. To address this, I advocate for a simplified approach that emphasises understanding system configurations and streamlining processes. By focusing on essential requirements, businesses can achieve compliance while minimising costs and complexity.
