Provide operational knowledge and experience into the appraise stages of the project. Support design development through Appraise – Select – Define stage gates, covering all operational aspects of the project ensuring appropriate consideration is given to operability and maintainability and the longer-term operational requirements. Recruited to this position to build, train, develop and lead a national operations Organisation to operate newly completed pipelines and associated facilities. Assumed role of Site Controller (Manager) at PSG1 facility during commissioning due to accelerated project schedule. Initially focusing on Operations Excellence on the platform, developing processes and tools to help Miller meet it’s aspirations of being a Great Operator. Coaching the operations teams in the essential skills and behaviors required to take Miller performance to a new level. Swiftly moved on to focus on the delivery side of offshore operations. Managing a multi-discipline operations & wells team to operate, maintain and improve the facilities, ensuring that the offshore teams deliver against the performance contract. Giving clear direction and demonstrating leadership in all aspects of platform operations. Offshore lead for maintaining technical integrity. Designated deputy OIM.

Supporting all Control, Electrical, Telecom and Production Reporting activities associated with an operating Asset. Part of a small facilities engineering team where my position had responsibilities covering a large spectrum of typical engineering support activities including Change Management, Documentation Control, Maintenance Management, Technical Integrity, Project Management, Operations Development and Budget Control.

Part of the Atmospheric Emissions Reduction Team working with all BPX assets in the UK. Looking at all aspects of platform operations that result in emissions to the atmosphere with a view to, where possible, giving assistance to reduce these emissions by changes to equipment, operating procedures, maintenance and personnel behaviors.

Ocensa - Responsible for testing, commissioning and start up of Instrumentation and Control Systems within the various pipeline stations. This includes all field mounted instrumentation, vendors control systems and panels, distributed control system, SCADA system and F&G.Guiding construction contractor through critical phases of work ensuring key systems are delivered in the appropriate sequences to allow operations to commence as early as safely possible.Cusiana - Secondment to the Central Processing Facilities on the Cusiana field Phase I development project. My main role was to manage the contractors pre-commissioning activities and ensure all equipment was installed, tested and certified to appropriate engineering standards and met the design intent.

Responsible for the integrity of all instrumentation on the platform and technical authority for all instrument systems, maintenance and modifications carried out. Compiled & completed competency assessments on all instrument technicians on the platform ensuring that the standards we set to deliver safe and continuous operations were met. Development and coaching of technicians to achieve the performance levels required by the new organisation within Magnus that would eventually allow my own position to be gradually withdrawn.

Executing routine maintenance and fault finding. Spent 18 months onshore seconded to Woodgroup project office working as Ops Rep on various medium size Magnus projects.Latterly trained and took on responsibility for the Metering Technician position on the platform.
