Current•Perform all aspects of Silica fiber amplifier/laser preform fabrication using the MCVD process, including nanoparticle doping and solution doping.•Design fiber preform core and cladding geometries to meet specific performance.•Demonstrated record power output and slope efficiency for erbium and holmium nanoparticle doped fiber.•Developed nanoparticle doped fiber utilizing an acoustic guiding and antiguide properties with significant reduction in stimulated Brillouin scattering.•Perform all facets of characterization of fiber refractive index profiles, optical absorption, and Master Oscillator Power Amplifier (MOPA) systems.•Manage and maintain all facets of MCVD process lab in optimal working order.•Authored over 65 publications and patents.
