I am currently an Undergraduate Teaching Coordinator and Sessional Lecturer in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Guelph. Courses that I teach include 2nd-year Microbiology, 3rd-year Analytical Biochemistry, and 4th-year Enzymology. My previous position was with the Agriculture and Food Laboratory at The University of Guelph as a Senior Microbiologist. Managing projects, developing new methods, validating external protocols, and troubleshooting existing procedures were among my responsibilities. Previously, I was a postdoctoral fellow with Chris Whitfield at The University of Guelph where my focus was studying bacterial surface structures and their export mechanisms. I completed my PhD studies in microbial pathogenesis at the department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Science at McMaster University under the supervision of Dr. Brian Coombes. I started my scientific career at The University of Western Ontario where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Genetics and a Master’s degree in Developmental and Cell Biology.Specialties: Teaching, biochemical, microbiological, and molecular biological methods, cell culture and animal models, microscopy, research and protocol optimization, and grant/proposal/technical writing.
