Colin Craig specializes in communications, research and advocacy. His efforts have led to significant policy changes at the municipal, provincial and federal level, and he has directed ground-breaking research in public policy. Most notably, Colin led the Canadian Taxpayers Federation's push to convince the federal government to table and pass legislation that would become known as the First Nations Financial Transparency Act. This legislation gives grassroots band members more information on how public funds are spent in their communities.Colin led the fight against the Manitoba government's decision to increase the province's PST (which was later reversed) and was instrumental in helping to expose corruption at Winnipeg's City Hall, including bribes provided during construction of the city's new police headquarters project. In Alberta, he helped the CTF with its successful campaign during the City of Calgary's referendum on hosting the Olympics. He also led efforts to discontinue the city's second pension for its mayor and a golden bonus program which rewarded city employees for showing up for work. Provincially, Colin had Alberta UCP leader Jason Kenney commit – in writing – to repeal the province's carbon tax and balance the provincial budget.As President of SecondStreet.org, he has overseen ground-breaking research in health care, including the organization's "Died on a Waiting List" reports – analysis which looks at the sad reality that thousands of Canadians die each year before receiving the care they need. His research work has also contributed to efforts to health reform, improved parental rights and efforts to reduce red tape nation-wide.Colin earned an MBA and BA (economics) from the University of Manitoba and has won awards for branding and public policy research. In 2022, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee Medal by the Alberta government. In 2015, he released his first book, "The Government Wears Prada" and contributed several chapters to "Life After COVID," an eBook that examines post-pandemic policy options for governments.
