I started coding as a kid on a 386 Windows PC. Systems focused. Full cycle engineering. Quality & controls at the source, constant feedback cycles, visibility of work & learning throughout. Really enjoy design thinking & enabling teams. Nothing gets me in the zone like hands on coding. Everything as Code. DevOps is a culture & set of practices, not a role or separate team. Agile is always a WIP. Enthusiastic about cloud, currently focused on AWS.I practise Platforms Engineering, supporting core platforms for the NAB Engineering Foundations, including a centralised CI/CD and orchestration platform. I'm the lead SME and top level support for an application built on Python RESTful APIs running serverless on Lambda via Kong API Gateway, backed by Postgres RDS, DynamoDB, SNS & SQS, fronted by a custom CLI & a Typescript ReactJS SPA served from AWS ECS. I practise DDD, test automation, DevOps, InnerSource, 3-Musketeers, AppSec & automated controls in my team & organisation. I've helped run the NAB AWS Community of Practice, & been a NAB Engineering Foundations InnerSource Champion. The more I learn, the more excited I get. I'm an experienced leader, recognised for having built a high performing team from scratch. I've achieved AWS Solution Architect, Cloud Practitioner, Codility & Scrum certs.I've learnt from endless hours of tech podcasts & books. I'm inspired by Clean Code, Clean Architecture, Domain Driven Design, Pragmatic Programmer, DevOps, Lean, cloud, microservices, Python, JavaScript, design thinking, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, interface-driven development, observability, culture, collaboration, community, scale & open sourcing.I've spent the past 15 years in Software Engineering, including DevOps, automation, application design & development for a NAB and MLC.I have prior experience in Control Systems Engineering, designing & building software & hardware control systems for Melbourne's EastLink tollway, tunnel, traffic monitoring & control systems, following earlier engineering experience with commercial HVAC systems, including low level programming of boiler/chiller systems and enhancing animated GUIs.I also have extensive (significantly enterprise) experience with MS Windows, Apple Mac, design, integrations, requirements, Oracle PL/SQL, Forte & various scripting. More recently focusing on practising, learning and sharing around DevOps, CI/CD, IaC, cloud, test automation, API development, front end development, Python, Mac, Linux, Bash scripting, Groovy, Jenkinsfile, Make, Docker, Harness, microservices and Agile.
