AXA Partners UK&I is the second largest division (~€650m turnover) of a global “Partners” assistance business, specialising in B2B2C distribution of Home Emergency, Motor Breakdown and Travel insurance products.Key Accountabilities/Achievements:• End to end functional accountability spanning Operational Finance, FP&A, Treasury and Statutory/Regulatory reporting across 4 UK&I and 1 Belgium based trading entities (35 FTE / €1bn turnover).• Completed detailed finance function diagnostic assessment with multi-workstream change plan now underway to transform culture, processes, insight, business relationships and internal control framework.• Appointed Finance lead on a high-profile strategy project during first month in role. Situation presented a significant resilience test owing to accelerated need to build solid business knowledge/ relationships and deliver/present complex financial projection scenarios. • Instigated and led a full review of balance sheet status across 5 trading entities, identifying remediation action. Findings / recommendations presented to AXA Partners Group CFO with actions underway to address. • Implemented analytical reporting/diagnostics to track “underlying” vs reported financial performance across a €20m operational FTE/expense base spanning multiple operational hubs (UK & Overseas). • Delivered enhanced quality SFCR and ORSA submissions by introducing clear business input accountability. • Delivered and presented the UK&I business strategy to the FCA alongside UK&I CEO and Compliance Director.

1. International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI):• Accountable for the end to end finance value chain for the AXA Health IPMI division. • Oversight of the finance relationship with AXA Health’s third party MGA partner, ensuring both contractual service commitments are met, and new deals presented are assessed and challenged.• Principle business partner to both AXA Health Commercial and Risk Directors, and transversal support teams, focusing on maximising underwriting value / mitigating risk in new reinsurance deals presented by the MGA.• Accountable for delivering the monthly IPMI portfolio result and onward reporting, presenting underlying trading performance analysis with recommended areas of focus to both AXA Health and MGA exec teams.• Implemented an overhaul of the process and operational controls used to onboard new global reinsurance partners, aimed at addressing historic challenges leading to significant data gaps and increased credit risk.• Delivered an independent review of the reinsurance portfolio profitability, using finance and actuarial data to identify areas of performance risk. • Business lead on a intra Group reinsurance directive impacting the IPMI portfolio. Principle areas of accountability included complex business case modelling, presenting Board papers, leading reinsurance contract negotiations, and managing an overhaul of processes and systems to manage outwards reinsurance.2. AXA Health Services Ltd:• Business lead following MD exit, driving a wide agenda of debate across the AXA Health Exec team, to maintain financial and service stability.• Finance lead on a high-profile Health Services strategy project, working alongside Commercial and Strategy Directors to set out plans focused on accelerating growth across ‘non-insurance’ corporate wellbeing services.• Matrix management across centralised finance teams to maintain accurate business unit results.• Accountable for managing the run-off of the legacy statutory entities.

Key Accountabilities/Achievements:• Principle business partner to the subsidiary managing director and exec team.• Full accountability for the subsidiary finance function, spanning statutory and management accounting, FP&A, business partnering and finance operations (24 FTE in 2019).• Programme managed a complex 2-year finance transformation project to integrate the subsidiary finance systems and OD into the parent company finance function. Successfully delivered on time and within budget.• Applied agile process optimisation techniques and an empowerment driven leadership ethos to drive a 50% reduction in subsidiary finance team FTE, whilst increasing team eNPS by +30 points. • Led both the customer and finance function response to the Covid-19 pandemic, re-structuring commercial terms to protect both customers and the business alongside overseeing the transition of the finance value chain to a controlled, remote delivery model in under 3 weeks.

Key Achievements:•Led a multiple workstream MI project to unlock greater visibility of underlying claims performance.• Implemented an enhanced expense allocation infrastructure, delivering critical marginal costing data drive optimised pricing decisions.• Restructured the month end close process, delivering accelerated reporting and actuarial led results.

Interim Head of Finance: Reinsurance (Short Term Contract)
