Colin Edgington was born in Denver, CO and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He received a BAFA in Studio Art from the University of New Mexico in 2005. From 2005 to 2007 he pursued post-baccalaureate work in photography at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before joining the Digital Content Creation department of the UIUC Library as a multi-media specialist in a joint operation with the Internet Archive. In 2010 he was awarded an MFA in photography from the Mason Gross School of Arts at Rutgers University. From 2010-11, Edgington worked with writer and critic David Levi Strauss through the Art Writers workshop, a division of The Creative Capital | Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program. In 2013 he was awarded the Iowa Review Photography Prize followed by a publication in the Winter issue of The Iowa Review. In 2016, he was awarded an MFA in Art Criticism and Writing from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. For nearly a decade, he taught photography at the college level across the tri-state region of northeast United States.
