Investigaor For Bail Review
CurrentThe primary function of the Bail Investigative Unit is to assess risk of defendants charged with criminal offense(s) in Baltimore City . The Bail Unit identifies those who are eligible for bond and makes recommendations to judicial authorities based on the risk assessment for release conditions. The Bail Investigative Unit is located in the Baltimore City Detention Center and all defendant interviews are done face-to-face. The information received from the defendant and the prior criminal history is verified and entered into the risk assessment tool that is then provided to the Court for assistance in making release decisions. Defendants with active bench warrants who are arrested and lodged in the Baltimore City Detention Center are also interviewed by the Bail Investigators at which time those cases are prepared to be heard in the court. All defendants who are processed through the Baltimore City Detention Center on new criminal charges, or defendants who are apprehended on active failure to appear warrants must be available, able and willing to be interviewed by the Bail Unit investigator.
