About Colin "Frank" Stapleton

Hi, my name is Colin.I am a Senior Manager currently designing, enhancing and executing large scale operational training packages for 38 ships. Leading and delivering complex projects successfully on time and within budget mitigating key operational risk. With 28 years’ experience in the Royal Navy, I’m accomplished in building successful multiskilled teams that deliver results whilst coaching and developing staff. I am able to lead and integrate within a diverse team whilst efficiently delivering change. ◾ From a workforce of 400 staff, I was awarded a commendation from MoD Director of Sea Training in recognition of my leadership, performance, showing commitment to overcome seemingly impossible challenges and innovation in responding to changes to operational training programmes that were successfully delivered on time. ◾ I simplified and improved the HR, Objective Setting and Career Development Plan process for all new staff within my department. The improvements implemented resulted in error rates being reduced from 70% to 10% saving valuable instruction and training time.◾ I successfully defined and documented Operational Planning requirements that cover HR and Logistics for specific ship types. Identified that these requirements were not documented, I took ownership of the issue and worked with staff to define requirements that would be implemented and used for future operations. This was recognised as good practice by senior management and helped improve HR and Logistic Operational Planning for specific ship types.◾ I improved the performance of an inexperienced and underperforming team of 40 staff. Staff were not meeting the minimum operational standards and accreditation requirements to perform their role. Over a 6-week period I coached and mentored the team on operational standards. This positive approach adopted resulted in improved performance that met the required accreditation requirements. This was recognised by Directors and external third-party assessors.I’m seeking new opportunities as I transition from Military service to civilian life and I am available to work now. As for my future, I hope to work in senior management roles that can utilise my leadership, training, coaching, project delivery and risk management experience. In my free time I enjoy running and cycling around the Clyde Valley and Strathclyde Park areas.
