I now have over 30yrs of continuous involvement in building surveying with the last 18 years focussed on risk management in relation to latent defects insurance and warranties. This experience has provided an understanding of the delicate balance between managing / reducing risk whilst maintaining a value to developers and builders. In this capacity I have both owned and managed the teams of risk managers / surveyors and been involved in evolving the insurance policy wording and creating / monitoring processes to ensure appropriate levels of risk management both in the UK and our emerging international markets. For the last 6 years i have developed the technical risk management team responsible for ensuring all major projects are assessed from both the design aspect and throughout construction and represent an acceptable risk to our insurers. The team is now over 20 strong and includes our Major Projects Managers, Major Projects Surveyors, Structural engineers and Facade Technical Manager.
