Understanding how the world around me works drives my search for knowledge.I have always been interested in understanding how things work. As a child I loved taking things apart to see their components as well as looking at diagrams in textbooks to visualize how things we take for granted actually function. As a software developer, I enjoy not only writing code, but understanding why and how it works. Looking at other people's code is sometimes more interesting. It gives me the opportunity to not only figure out what it does, but learn different approaches to solving problems.Being a grill cook taught me how to be a team player. Although my main duty was cooking food for customers, I didn't stop there. While long cooking food was on the grill I moved into the kitchen to help in any way I could. Washing dishes, preparing food, cataloging inventory, and helping customers directly were among the tasks I would do every day. Bridging the gap between the outdoor grill, the kitchen, and the front line helped develop my communication skills and understanding of how to be a valuable part of a cohesive team.By pairing my problem solving and desire to learn with my ability to cooperate and communicate effectively with others, I hope to have a positive impact on the environment, social and physical, that we live in.
