Using the MKI-scores of the pilot projects as provided by the supplier & contractor, the circularity indicators could be validated or improved to a certain extent by linking it to the closest MKI-score of the developed reference alternatives, each consisting of a variety of elements which were consequently scaled to the project’s input to make them comparable.This is an important step in the validation process of the DCW-concept, which revolves around the infrastructure as-a-service model and hopes to improve circularity in the infrastructure sector. The concept stimulates the contractor to design for efficient maintenance and keep End-of-Life (value) in mind to maximise their profits, as the contractor is the owner of the infrastructure for the pre-determined contract duration.
