Colin W Bell is a portrait artist and writer living in the North East of England. He apprenticed as an engineer and qualified with a BSc in Engineering and as a Naval Architect specialising in the development of computer modelling systems applied to ship design and manufacturing processes. He later worked in telecommunications as a global consultant in applied computer sciences, distributed systems, and middleware; lattery as a Technical Lead he developed enterprise systems at HMRC and at the Home Office (UK). He has been a life-long student of the Art of Painting; he trained in Florence and is a prize winner for drawing at the RA.When the twisted mundanity of stand-up meetings became a daily ritual, and the infernal torment transmitted down my earpiece affirmed they'd lost all sense of creativity devising their new world model in a mission hell-bent on monitoring everything, I decided to extricate myself from a long career in Information Technology. Software engineering used to be a noble art, but now it was changing me, edging me deeper into a morally conflicted realm of fraudulent indifference; saying nothing knowing something needed to be said. So, like mother nature, when all things inexorably erode back to their elemental origins, I decided to take up the threads of my early writings about art in search of something better.The publication The Art Scientific was founded by Colin W Bell in 2024.
