Leading a team of over 60 people providing customer support for taxpayers subject to Texas Franchise Tax filing requirements, as well as all electronic filing and payment applications for Texas taxes and fees. Duties include strategic planning, inventory management, communication with multiple divisions levels of management, ensuring compliance with rules and laws regarding fair labor practices, developing staff and succession planning. Team duties include but are not limited to correcting non-processed reports, refunding overpayments, validating taxpayer compliance with filing requirements, responding to written correspondence, developing business requirements and performing system testing, providing customer service over the phone and email.

Supervise team of up to 26 people providing customer service and ensuring compliance with crude oil and natural gas taxes while serving as subject matter expert. Work closely with other divisions, including Tax Policy, Audit, Legal and IT. Met with industry representatives as well as heads of tax departments of major oil and gas companies to work together on shared challenges.

Perform system testing and reconciliation/analysis of crude oil and natural gas tax accounts. Subject Matter Expert; trained coworkers and the public, worked directly with programmers to develop new tax processing systems and triage defects. Performed quality control on work of coworkers. Worked with legal to review and utilize tax statute to justify actions to prepare for administrative hearings.
