This is a transitional role that developed due to turnover in the finance department and is required to drive the year-end audit process and lead the finance team.Projects include analyzing multiple tax opportunities such as VAT in China, transfer pricing and US sales tax. Working with consultants to determine most efficient delivery of goods from Asia to customers worldwide taking into account shipping, duties and transfer pricing. Also analyzing gross margin and determining how to improve for maximum profitability.

Stormtech designs and supplies corporate apparel primarily through corporate distributors, with over 140 employees worldwide. Specific accomplishments included establishing departmental budgets and a strategic plan which improved profitability and streamlined expenses; consolidating warehouses in the US, eastern Canada and Burnaby into one larger and more efficient 150,000 square foot warehouse in Burnaby; reducing expenses by nearly 20%; improving margins by over 30% while reducing inventory levels by 25%; securing a new banking relationship that better suits the company’s growth objectives; establishing a duty deferral program which resulted in a duty refund in excess of $2 million.

Held various progressive finance roles (Manager, Accounting / Manager, Financial Analysis / Assistant Controller) prior to being appointed Controller in 2004. - member of the executive team overseeing Canadian subsidiary (annual revenues of $65 million) of US parent corporation;- responsible for overall financial statement reporting, including review of monthly and quarterly financial statements;- responsible for the preparation of budgets and semi-monthly forecasts for Canadian and International operations;- supervision and mentorship of 12 staff;- involved in due diligence regarding the acquisition and assimilation of two other Canadian companies;- assisted in the financial turn around of the company, resulting in subsequent acquisitions by public and private entities.
