Oversaw product design within all categories from watches to leather goods and bags to packaging. I managed one designer who I have helped develop from intern to essentially a designer II level designer. Within the pandemic with a fluctuating company size and development work load I took on many of the principal product development roles as it pertains to factory communication and factory load, working with a total of 5 factories and our planner to finalize not only what is ordered but also to make sure MOQs are carefully considered and creatively handled to minimize risk.

During my first years at Jack Mason I was the only full time watch designer on staff. I managed design and development responsibilities for Jack Mason, Jack Mason League (producing product for the NCAA, NFL, MLB, and NHL), Lucky Brand Jeans, and Canton and Hall. Canton and Hall was an experimental brand I was tasked to design and launch based on a name and basic aesthetic direction; this included branding, product, packaging, and considerable involvement in the web design. These years were a trial by fire to refine my ability to adapt aesthetically, innovate quickly, and differentiate product offerings to properly serve the desired target customer.

In my later years at Fossil I focused on being a specialist for my team. With a tight price ceiling, I took time to innovate and press new aesthetics and new partnerships to bring higher and higher quality without hurting our bottom line. While continuing to manage as many as seven product platforms, I also took on my first subordinate intern. With a large design team, I had time to explore and grow my solid modeling skills to a place where I could provide near final models to our factory partners for development. In my final year a new PLM system was implemented and I took over as the lead liaison and technical troubleshooter for my team. Our process became a standard for many of the watch teams that I helped to roll out across the company.

In my first job out of college I was focused on learning from designers above me. My first years at Fossil were focused on cutting my teeth aesthetically and learning how to properly communicate and operate in a multinational, cross functional environment. I learned how to be an asset to the planning and product management teams, how to communicate across language barriers, and the hard lessons of how to properly spec a tech pack to bring excellent product to life. I managed several product platforms and was continually hungry for more responsibility.
