Crafted firmware for professional audio, video, communications, and automation products. Interfaced with a wide variety of communications protocol and solved challenging system problems to produce products that customers love.However, in order to write and deliver the firmware, it is critical to have effective tools. When tools were clearly lacking, I developed a new embedded software build system using Python and CMake with a custom toolchain and implemented continuous integration systems with Jenkins. I led the team in migration from an obsolete version control system to Git, greatly improving development effectiveness and our agility. By introducing unit testing and test-driven development, I proved how these strategies produce reliable, well-designed, and sustainable software. When the same kind of bugs kept appearing due to coding errors, I introduced the team to static code analysis tools and uncovered (and fixed) many latent defects in existing code.Unrelenting perseverance and highly honed problem-solving skills put me in the position where the team consistently handed me the most challenging software bugs.
