About Colin Gilmore
The main focus of my research is on the use of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation to image objects obscured from regular human perception. Application areas of this research include stored grain monitoring, biomedical imaging (e.g. detection of breast cancer), landmine detection, structural health monitoring and imaging of oil/hydrocarbon fields. This research requires understanding of the physics and mathematics of antenna theory, electromagnetic wave interactions with materials, computational electromagnetic programming, image processing, optimization algorithms, as well as other hardware design and use.
