My graduate career focused on the development of an aqueous synthetic preparation for bismuth nanoparticles. Such nanoparticles exhibit excellent contrast when exposed to X-ray radiation, which could be used in biomedical imaging applications.Throughout my undergraduate degree, I had many interests within the field of chemistry. However, I was most drawn to the development of phosphine-type ligands for use in homogeneous catalysis for such applications as organic synthesis, molecular nitrogen capture and conversion to ammonia, as well as for renewable energy applications such as chemical energy storage.I am currently employed as a Battery Scientist at Polaris Battery Labs in Beaverton, OR where I get to be directly involved in some of the newest and most exciting battery chemistries that are in development. As a scientist, I help the client navigate their technology from the small lab-scale to the prototype stage and from prototype towards commercialization.
