I've had the privilege of advising some of the brightest and most disruptive stakeholders in the emerging companies and venture capital arena. Two takeaways emerge from my nine years of working for and advising these incredible investors, incubators and founders. First—listening is indispensable. Taking the time to learn our client’s strategic objectives, risk tolerance, market philosophy and points of leverage is critical to effectively negotiating a deal and delivering clear and coherent guidance to our clients. Second—no one approach fits every transaction. The best advisers deliver value by balancing efficiency and simplicity with a level of flexibility, and a willingness to explore new and innovative solutions to challenges. We think critically about how to incentivize stakeholders, maximize upside exposure and protect against unnecessary or avoidable risk. This is an exciting time. Colin 's personal interest in disruptive technologies is evident in his work in Lowenstein Sandler’s Corporate Department and as a member of the Tech Group.Colin's practice is focused on the representation of investment funds and emerging technology companies in financing and M&A transactions. He provides straightforward, thoughtful guidance that enables his clients to structure business combinations and negotiate equity and debt financing transactions in a graceful and efficient manner. He also advises companies on matters of strategic commercial transactions, banking and financial advisory services, executive compensation, employment and the development and protection of intellectual property.
