I trained as a Chartered Accountant in the City and qualified in 1991, joining the London office of a Top 20 firm in 2002, becoming a partner in 2006 and retiring from the partnership in April 2018, initially to establish my own consultancy business focusing on Corporate Governance and Financial Reporting consultancy, before joining AIMS Accountants for Business on a full time basis. In January 2021 a relocation took me to a new role as Chief Financial & Operating Officer at Blackburn Cathedral in Lancashire. In March 2023 I joined the team at Wells Cathedral School as their Head of Finance.I continue to be Treasurer and Trustee at the national charity Streetwise Opera, whilst also a listening volunteer with Samaritans, most recently joining their Email HUB. I am also Trustee and Chair of the Finance & Risk Committee for Spurgeons, a national Christian charity supporting families through Family Hubs.I was Deputy Chair of the Corporate Governance Expert Group at the Quoted Companies Alliance, and was involved in the reissue of their Corporate Governance Code, in addition to chairing the working group which updated the Audit Committee Guide for Small and Medium Sized Quoted Companies.I have been a Primary School Governor, chairing the Finance & Resources Committee, and also Churchwarden and Treasurer to the PCC of St John's Church in Watford.In the autumn of 2005, I was awarded the UHY Forum Award by business school professors leading the course for leading senior managers within the UHY International network.
