A software engineer with an English degree, I have a passion for taking an idea and transforming it into a usable tool. To take unexplored data, organize it and turn it into useful insights.I have experience with bug resolution on older code bases, and greenfield project build outs, using consistent project structure, coding practices and test coverage.For more than half a decade I have also and the privilege and the challenge of working completely remotely for multiple different employers. Remote working is both a discipline and a culture which has served me tremendously well. I am able to live on a sheep farm in Maine while still working in technology, keeping one foot on fertile soil, and the off in cyberspace.I also build MVPs during hackathons as a volunteer, helping to improve government and civic services. MVPs require moving quickly, responding to feedback and all the while maintaining a build-able project.Besides building things, I also appreciate the importance of communicating with users, responding to criticism, and the nature of changing requirements. Without users, tools and services have no purpose, and listening to users and what they mean as they tell you what they want is as important as any part of the build.
