Passion project turned innovative social enterprise. SMB Connect exists to coordinate the construction of strategic infrastructure in rural areas to spur greater economic development. My role as founder and acting ED involved swiftly moving from the tactical to strategic levels while building a social enterprise in concert with local municipal leadership. I was successful in raising $1.03M in funding through a cost-share agreement between Bell (62%), Provincial Government (25%) and the Municipalities (13%), using SMB Connect as the investment vehicle. Our major project, a dual-cellular tower system for St. Mary's Bay Centre was completed in 2020, providing cellular service for the first time for over 1,000 residents and business. The organization was dissolved with remaining assets transferred to a local municipality to continue connectivity work.

As a member of the senior leadership team, I provide key strategic and operational advice to the team and report on financial and related matters to the Board of Directors. I am responsible for overseeing and managing a full-suite corporate services portfolio for a rapidly growing organization and provide strategic planning, leadership and coordination efforts to ensure a continuously sound financial structure. The role often takes on new and special projects in a leadership capacity to help Genesis advances its value proposition for tech startups. I traveled the province under the GMO (Getting the Message Out) Program presenting to high schools about local businesses, labour market information, and the Newfoundland and Labrador economy. I have logged over 100 hours of presentation time.

Under the Voluntary and Non-Profit Secretariat, I was hired on as an intern through my Public Policy course. I conducted a mass of research on the Voluntary and Non-Profit sector, became connected with sector leaders/organizations and even had the chance to plan for the Royal Visit.
