As a kid, I burned sticks and leaves with a magnifying glass in the summer. I would crouch silently on the sidewalk for an hour or so with my entire consciousness inside that dot of concentrated light. It was easy to get lost in the feeling of burning a hole in something with my focus. I still love that feeling. Obsession, for me, is being in love with the work of improving. And I love being obsessed.I’m young in terms of my time as a working professional, so I won’t pretend that my resume is a particularly long or focused. It’s all over the place and I think that is one of my greatest strengths.Here are some things things I've worked hard to achieve: -I was the first undergraduate to give the keynote address at the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing since its inception in 1984. -I was the captain of my varsity soccer and tennis teams in high school. -I graduated summa cum laude from the honors program at DePaul.-I’ve run marathons in Chicago and Tulsa. -I finished four college majors in five years in mathematics, physics, philosophy and discourse analysis, and won the award for outstanding senior in discourse analysis.Right now, my obsessions are learning to code better, learning to cook better, learning to bake better, learning to empty myself out for others every day, learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, learning classical piano, learning to appreciate poetry, learning how circuits works, learning the Japanese kanji, learning how 7th graders work, and other bottomless challenges.
