Just Transition Policy lead for the Climate Change Division. Focusing on Scottish Government approach to Regional Just Transition Planning and Climate Change Plan. Previously: developing Just Transition Planning Framework, establishing / providing secretariat for the first Just Transition Commission, leading on public sector and business engagement on Climate Change.

The Policy & Standards Manager role is the Deputy Chief Executive for the organisation. * Stakeholder management: developing partnerships with a wide range of organisations (public and private sector)* Developing membership standards and processes * Coordinating technical support and guidance* Deputising for the chief executive and members of the presidential team

Policy development, implementation and performance monitoring role for HSE's national Asbestos Licensing Unit (ALU)RESPONSIBILITIES:* Leading coordination/communication with industry stakeholders.* Assessing management arrangements, subsequently monitoring the performance of licence holders. * Establishing robust evidence for high-impact, politically sensitive regulatory decisions; working with operational managers to encourage consistent action.* Developing policy and procedure for HSE's work, with extensive liaison and coordination across multiple disciplines.* Advice, education, training: developing and delivering formal training sessions/programmes; informal support and advice for operational managers/inspectors; production of written guidance (internal/external).* Managing team responsible for administering various streams of ALU work e.g. internal training programmes; industry seminars; plan of work project. * Representing ALU at internal and external meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:*Handling broad reactive and proactive workload across a wide range of duty holders (SMEs to Local Authorities and blue-chip multi-national companies): complaint / accident investigation; large-scale management interventions and audits; preparing cases in line with EMM and EPS; managing specialist technical support;*Delivery of awareness / promotional events, coordinating HSE and HSL staff, and relevant industry stakeholders;*Mentoring trainee inspectors.

Trainee inspection with high hazard (CHID) / general manufacturing & service sectors. CHID, in particular, offered an ideal starting point for my HSE career (providing an early introduction to management systems and management inspections).

Responsible for the initial planning, launch, subsequent strategic planning and management of a small business providing specialist sports equipment (online and “high street”).
