My partner, Maria Mayorga, started Namawe in 2021 after seeing how her handmade soaps helped soothe my hypoallergenic skin. After a couple of months of selling at a local country market, she's become a local expert on helping Irish people remedy skin ailments from simple dry skin to eczema and psoriasis. In May the opportunity to scale to the next level came up, so we dove in together to bring herbal medicine into skincare. We want to bring value in more than just soap and skincare, but offer help to people who want to bring more balance to their life and body through natural remedies. In June 2022 we opened a shop on Altamont St in Westport with the intention of not just selling soaps but helping people begin a deeper relationship with their body, mind, and soul. Skincare is just the first step.As of June 2023 we have over 20 stockists and butchers who sell our tallow-based soaps and tallow balms. This growth has come because of more people seeing their skin ailments (like dry skin, eczema, dermatitis, acne, psoriasis, etc.) soothed or relieved with our herbal skin products. They are all natural near 100% organic, locally sourced and suitable for even the most sensitive skin.
