Mr. Waugh has spent much of his career to date in the Commodity Investment industry, in fund management, research and trading. He was a Partner, Portfolio Manager and Head of Research in the New York firm of Galtere Ltd, a $2.5bn commodity – global macro fund, before joining Lombard Street Research (now TS Lombard) as an Associate Director for commodities research. During his portfolio management career at Galtere, Colin launched an Africa Investments portfolio and pioneered a Climate Volatility investment sub-portfolio. He has been a speaker at investment for a on inclusive finance and fintech events in China, sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. More recently, he became Associate Editor of Commodity Insights Digest a journal of the University of London, City, Bayes Business School. He is also a founder investor in Vitro Software, a digital medical technology firm, where he has been a board member since 2019. Previously he spent 7 years at the UN Migration agency (IOM), the International Red Cross, and other humanitarian organizations, mostly engaged in African post-conflict assistance programs. Mr. Waugh has served on the Advisory Board of Columbia University’s Institute of African Studies in New York and is a former Associate Fellow of Chatham House in London. In addition, he has published two non-fiction books about African political leaders: Paul Kagame and Rwanda (2004) and Charles Taylor and Liberia (2011). He holds an MSc (Econ) degree from the London School of Economics and speaks French and Portuguese.
