Led a staff of over 450 personnel in three States with a budget of over $92 million providing corporate IT support and acquisition to the Army’s global healthcare system (Army Medical Department). Supervised project managers managing over 25 projects worth over $30 million, and the management of contracts with over 60 companies. Supervised the planning and worldwide deployment of multiple information systems including the Pre and Post Deployment Automated Health Assessment System and the Surgical Scheduling System. Operated various corporate information systems used worldwide including email, video conferencing, medical logistics, and veterinary support. Deployed Windows 2003 with Active Directory and Exchange to the Medical Command facilities and provided lessons learned to the Army CIO for use in Army-wide efforts. Defined entire portfolio of customer support systems and each system’s life cycle costs for the following 6 years. Restructured the organization to allow each of the three new entities to better support its primary customers. Geographically relocated main body of organization – including over 150 servers (many of them serving users throughout the globe) – without any downtime to any user and at just over half of the original cost estimates.
Developed and implemented new Information Management Plan in preparation for JCAHO survey in which the hospital scored 100%. Provided daily oversight and management of EHR used at multiple facilities in the region. Planned, procured and implemented new paging system in support of 1300 users. Greatly expanded the role of the clinical informatics office facilitating the procurement of clinical information systems for the hospital and the region.
