Jan 2024 - Present

Executive Director

Gros Morne Summer Music

As the inaugural Executive Director of GMSM, I brought the incredible artistry of Eastern Canada to the rest of the country. Rooted in Western Newfoundland, GMSM aims to deepen the social agency of art with a commitment to the integrity of artistic practice. Using the interconnected platforms of training, creative development, and presentation, the transformative capacity of art is integrated into daily life.In collaboration with Artistic Director David Maggs, as well as the staff, community and Board of Directors, I worked to define the strategic direction of the 17-year-old institution, launched the operation of a new performing arts hub and artist residencies, and established a network of national arts partners. This entrepreneurial enterprise includes a youth training academy, a professional summer music presentation series, and an ensemble in residence, in addition to independent creative projects. Personal achievements since initial consultancy include the creation of a new strategic plan, launch of fundraising initiatives, artistic program development, national partnership formation (Aga Khan Museum, Banff Centre, Metcalf Foundation), opening of a new capital facility, creation of a new partnership with Humber College School for the Creative and Performing Arts, and design and leadership of a provincial digital symposium. In December 2019 through a national grant with Western Health, GMSM will pursue the SmART Aging initiative, a community-based arts program that aims to help maintain and improve cognitive fitness for older adults with mild to moderate frailty or mild to moderate cognitive decline.

May 2018 - Apr 2020

Project Lead

Banff, Ab, Ca

Member of the leadership team for Arts, Culture and Digital Transformation - a summit to re-imagine the place of an artist in a digital world. This three-day summit, supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, aims to facilitate a national conversation around the emerging pressures and opportunities arising in a hyper-digitized world, and how we as artists and arts leaders find and make meaning there. Arts, Culture, and Digital transformation moves from world to art to audience, connecting the expansive with the practical. Posing two fundamental questions: where is art needed in this disrupted world, and what do the arts need to expand creative visions there; the summit will serve as a national gathering for an array of stakeholders including artists, arts leaders, technologists, futurists, funders, policymakers, gamers, and researchers.
