Colleen, a seasoned natural resources professional with over 15 years of dedicated experience as a forester. Colleen's educational background is diverse, encompassing forestry, environmental science, and natural resources, which has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of these fields. In Colleen's present role as an Urban Forester, her primary focus is on tree equity. She is deeply committed to promoting equitable access to the numerous benefits of urban forests. Colleen's work revolves around educating, engaging, and partnering with underserved communities, empowering them to actively contribute to the fair establishment and ongoing maintenance of urban forests. Colleen's passion is rooted in building resilient communities through sustainable and inclusive urban forest management. She firmly believes that the strength of a community is reflected in the health and vitality of its urban green spaces. Previously, Colleen served with NOWCorps at Cuyahoga SWCD coordinating and implementing the Native Urban Tree Starters Program (N.U.T.S.)which is aimed at restoring Cuyahoga County's tree canopy. She also conducted water quality testing and delivered environmental education presentations to students. Transitioning to the Education Program Specialist at Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District Colleen coordinated and implemented the George Washington Carver program for schools in Cuyahoga County OH. Colleen led the establishment of Riparian Buffers for homeowners, collaborated with environmental partners on the Healthy Urban Tree Canopy in Cuyahoga County OH, wrote and published written communication for digital and print platforms, and rendered presentations at conferences and workshops.
