Colleen Colburn Email and Phone Number
I'm currently a college student at BYU Idaho studying health and business. My dream is to open a powerlifting gym that is open and welcoming to people of all walks of life. I have a passion for lifting and exercise and what it does for people in every aspect of their lives. I believe that the right exercise paired with the right person provides that person with increased self-confidence, better emotional health, and a resolve that they can handle anything that life throws at them, as well as the more obvious benefits of better health, being stronger and having more energy. Most recently, I’ve had experience leading classes, including being a teacher’s assistant for the "Strength Training Theory and Application" class at BYUI, which gave me the opportunity to organize and lead class workout and mobility activities. I also had the exclusive opportunity to create and teach my own semester long curriculum for the student taught "Weight Training" class at BYUI. I worked under the umbrella of "The Wellness Center" as both a fitness trainer to 30-40 clients at a time as well as being the "Lead Trainer" which encompasses teaching, leading and managing approximately 10 other trainers who had a similar client load of 30-40 clients.I have 10+ years’ experience with fitness, 7 years of which were spent being trained by different coaches, giving me the opportunity to learn and grow from their experience and training style. Also, during that time, I have participated in multiple lifting competitions, including a powerlifting meet. I’ve had experience with the StrongFirst program and have participated in a Barbell Certification through that company. I have also completed a TRX training course and completed “Foundations of group fitness Instruction” class through my home gym. I started helping friends and family with their lifting form and programming from a young age, shadowed my own personal trainer as he taught multiple sessions and classes, being trusted to assist in teaching those sessions, and most recently, had the opportunity to work as a Fit4Life trainer, still furthering my growth in my ability to train, program, and lead.I'm looking to gain some additional experience in business and the health industry including physical therapy, strength training, and nutrition through internships and networking.
