The Black Horse Pike School District's Center for Alternative and Restorative Education (CARE) at Camden County College provides an alternative and a restorative learning environment for individuals who require additional therapeutic supports in order to maximize their social, emotional, behavioral, and academic potential.

Determine course needs using student achievement data, and create a mechanism for students to enroll in summer school, including payment. Post, interview, and made recommendations for teachers and support staff, coordinate payroll with central office, and facilitate organizational meetings with summer school/program staff. Organize the summer school curriculum in consultation with appropriate members of faculty, administration and the district supervisors. Establish procedures for acquiring summer school substitute teachers and assigned daily substitutes as necessary. Develop and managed protocol and procedures for student drop-off, lateness, and discipline issues, including the implementation of restorative practices in lieu of removal for minor offenses. Record and report final grades in coordination with district counseling staff.

Made contact with parents and students to advertise and recommend tutoring programs, including drafting notice letters and following up with any concerns relative to the tutoring or summer programs. Promoted Title I programs and services at Back to School Night and 8th grade orientations in coordination with the Coordinators for Math and Language Arts. Worked with District Program Coordinators (Math and Language Arts) to create brochures and online advertisements of Title I Services. Utilized the District website, Blackboard Connect (all calls) and any other resource to promote use of all of our programs. Assisted the Math/Science and Language Arts programs by communicating with students and parents throughout the year. Attended Home and School Council and/or PTP meetings to explain the services. Develop a student advisory committee or a routine for gathering feedback from students about the programs. Organized and ensured the delivery of the refreshments and snacks for all programs each day. Participated in the interview process of program positions (in collaboration with District Program Coordinators). Worked collaboratively with the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction, Math/Science and Language Arts Literacy program coordinators, and school principals in completing duties as assigned. Conducted meetings with all stakeholders in April and May to go over the efficacy of programs as well as developed the 2023-2024 Annual School Plan that can be accessed in the DOE Homeroom site.
