I am an experienced, effective and conscientious teacher who has always had a passionate interest in literacy. I have many years full time teaching experience in the classroom, mostly with junior children. I have worked in many Auckland schools with a wide range of socio-economic needs and multicultural representation. I have just completed a graduate diploma in teaching English in schools to speakers of other languages. This professional development has enabled me to build skills for helping ELL students achieve academically. I am committed to planning strategically to manage student’s changing behavioural needs. This requires communicating in a clear and respectful way, while demonstrating consistency in how students are treated. This will effect positive working relationships and make a difference to students’ achievement in all areas of the curriculum, and to their self-esteem.
